'Go go Govinda' different from item numbers: Sonakshi

Sonakshi Sinha feels its not right to call her latest song "Go go Govinda" an item number. It is a song with a difference, says the actress, who shares screen space with ace choreographer Prabhu Deva in the number.
"The term 'item song' is used very loosely today. Any solo number is termed as an item song. This is a good song with Prabhu, and is very different from other item numbers," Sonakshi said here on the sidelines of a promotional event.
Sonakshi and Prabhu Deva will be seen dancing to the tunes of "Go go Govinda' in Umesh Shukla's "Oh My God". According to reports, the two are not part of the film and only feature in the song.

Sonakshi is currently busy promoting her film "Joker", which also features her "Rowdy Rathore" co-star Akshay Kumar.
Directed by Shirish Kunder, "Joker" is set to release Aug 31.

Saif turns action hero in 'Bullet Raja'

After delighting audiences with his youthful role in "Cocktail", actor Saif Ali Khan is set to try his action avatar for Tigmanshu Dhulia's new film "Bullet Raja".
"My next film will be an action film with Saif Ali Khan. The film is titled 'Bullet Raja'. The film will go on floors in November and will be shot in and around Lucknow," Dhulia said.
The film's narrative will be set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh-based mafia, and it will deal with the underworld.
One wonders if Saif's character would be similar in anyway to his portrayal of Langda Tyagi in Vishal Bhardwaj's critically acclaimed "Omkara".
But Dhulia said: "The character in my film is not like Langda Tyagi at all. Once I only said that when Saif, who is a very urban guy, can carry the role of Langda Tyagi in 'Omkara' so convincingly, then he can do any role. So people are drawing my reference in a different way."
Dhulia, who is riding high on the success of "Paan Singh Tomar", recently finished the shooting of "Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster 2". He will roll the cameras for "Bullet Raja" with Saif starting November.

Sequels are safe option: Mahesh Bhatt

With films like "Jannat 2", "Murder 2" and now "Raaz 3", Vishesh Films seems to have turned into a sequel making machine and Mahesh Bhatt advocates its policy, saying with sequels you are secure.
"A sequel guarantees a safety net with at least 40 percent collection at the box office in comparison to the original film. This happens because the brand has a recall value," he said.
"Films like 'Jannat 2', 'Murder 2', 'Raaz 2' amongst other have all been successful for us. Today, the only yardstick to measure the response of a film is the box office collection and the opening weekend collection," he added.
Bhatt agrees sequels provide a "safety net for his investors", but there is also a flip side to it.
Elaborating, he said: "We will keep making sequels as I want to create a sense of safety for my investors, a safety for the opening weekend. But there is also a flip side of making sequel that it might not meet the people's expectations," he said.
After "Jism 2" their next release is "Raaz 3". Directed by Vikram Bhatt, it stars Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta and focuses on rise and fall of a superstar and the dark side of the film industry.
Bhatt, who wrote "Jism 2", is happy with the kind of response the erotic thriller has received at the box office.
" 'Jism 2' collected Rs 21.25 crore over the weekend and I am predicting that the lifetime business will be around Rs.30 crore irrespective of the negative buzz," he said and added that a section of people didn't like the film, but the box office numbers tell a different story. The film cost Rs.7 crore.
"There is a segment of the audience found it very sluggish. People have also said that the content is too mature and doesn't meet the requirement of fast paced thriller. But if we go by the numbers, I believe no one should not raise finger against us," he said.
